ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently seeking a number of experienced Cooks to join our team for ongoing work. Reporting to the Managing Director and/or the vessel Master, the main responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Coordinating all meal requirements and provisions for the duration of the voyages (approx. 14 days, for 16 people)

  • Preparation of ingredients and menus

  • Ordering and purchasing of goods within a set budget

  • Catering to dietary requirements as required

  • Cooking of meals

  • Stock control for the duration of the voyage

  • Operating kitchen equipment and cleanup/food area maintenance

  • Maintaining galley and mess to a satisfactory standard

  • Ensuring compliance with WHS and food safety regulations 

Additional duties will include:

  • Assisting with handling ropes when berthing

  • Working with the BPM team to maintain the vessel in an organised and clean state

  • Assisting with linen changes and general laundry duties

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful applicants will meet the following criteria:

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working in a similar environment or position

  • Strong commercial cookery experience (preferably with an AMSA Certificate of Proficiency, Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Cookery)

  • Proven understanding of working to WHS and food hygiene requirements

  • Friendly outgoing personality with exceptional communication skills

  • Ability to deal with internal and external clients

  • Reliable and punctual

  • Impeccable personal presentation

  • Ability to work within a team offshore for extended periods

Desirable Criteria

  • Shipboard safety certification

  • Radio operators license

  • Deck hand experience

  • Coxswain or Master qualifications

  • Candidates who possess previous marine experience will be highly regarded.
